Reflections on My Vegas Residency: An Alpert Report

Nice to have your family together! DH and I briefly looked at retiring out west, but it never worked out. I have often said I would have spent all of our retirement funds flying back to WI to visit my kiddos and grandkiddos!

 

Happy Belated Birthday! What a great present getting to spend time with your Minion. Had I known I could have dropped off a box of Birthday donuts, we were in town. Well maybe next year.

 

We had a great time together!

I miss family back home, but I really dig teaching out here. My current students have a lot more and different challenges than my Wisconsin students did, but they are hardworking kids who love to learn.

One student brought me a flower today! It’s the head of a dandelion, but it was prominently displayed on my desk!

Headed over to ToyCon today. It wasn’t as large as I’d envisioned—TWSS—but it was fun attending nonetheless!

 

Did you take pictures with the Pink Ranger and/or Mario Lopez @Richard Alpert ?

 

Never thought anyone walked as much as my late grandfather then I read a Alpert thread....

 

Mario cancelled. There was quite a line to meet the Pink Ranger, but I didn’t join in.

I tried to say howdy to Christopher Serrone—“young” Henry in Goodfellas—but he wandered away from his table as we approached. Maybe he had some cars to park for Paulie.

 

I like to hoof it as much as possible! My bride says I live at an 1880s pace, but that’s okay with me!

 

We had a pretty good week, wrapping it up with a fantastic Friday. The wispy clouds danced a morning waltz across the valley sky.



I found a Ticonderoga upon entering our school campus. It’s the Wynn of pencils!



We are enjoying our shapes and solids unit in math. My students have been really excited about our hands-on learning. They haven’t had a lot of opportunities for that until now.



After school I procured some Cane’s for the minions!



Date night found us up at Aliante tonight. We dined at TGI Fridays! Service was at a very leisurely pace, but we were served before it was renamed TGI Saturdays. It was worth the wait!

I did it, Al! (First time playing Genie’s Wheel.). I took it and ran!

Later that evening, in honor of 4/20, we decided to partake…



in attending a high school performance of Shrek: The Musical!

I did an Earth Day warm-up in the nearest park.
