Amazing that Harrahs is the #1 earning CET property. There was a time where Caesars AC earned more than Caesars Palace
Interesting. Borg is the only one down compared to a year ago. HR and Ocean closing the gap quickly. Sooner or later it may become top 3 with somewhat equal footing, and everybody else. I’m also surprised Harrah’s pulled in 21 mil, it’s usually pretty dead.
Comes as a major shock to me. I've been to all 3 properties multiple times each this year on 5 separate visits and Harrahs is almost consistently a ghost town compared to the others, especially if you go any time besides Friday Saturday. Tropicana always seems to be the heaviest trafficked to me, but the data doesn't really support what I've seen personally. Unless Harrahs attracts significantly more high rollers or something.
Based on the numbers I've been tracking looks like HR/Ocean fluctuate more on their table game win than slot play. Borgata has the most number of slots followed by HR as a close second. The others have much fewer machines than those two.
I am an admitted Harrah's AC enjoyer, its been my home base last (4) trips to AC. Yes, definitely easy to get free nights. Specifically, easier to get comped Friday which is big plus for me. Sun-Thu is pretty dead, for a low roller being able to drive down to AC after work on a Friday, scan ID at the kiosk and head on up to a free room is pretty damn cool. Almost all of them are recently renovated as well, very nice rooms. Granted, it's not on the boardwalk but I personally don't miss it and it's only a cab ride away. @Jimbo749, you gotta jump all over that July 12-13th, even if you need to cancel if something comes up. A rare weekend comp in the summer is a thing of beauty.
The most interesting part of this is such growth compared to Las Vegas dropping in revenue in recent reports. AC must not be as greedy as Vegas.
Wow, I didn't even notice that! Just booked it The free rooms really do make a huge difference in my opinion. Not just getting me to stay at Harrah's, but visiting AC in general. I've got access to a lot of options. AC is a 4.5 hour ride for me, but in that same range and even closer i've got access to Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun/Encore BH/Turning Stone/Rivers, but i'd rather go to AC because rooms anywhere else are through the roof. It's also a plus that I can hit MGM/CET and GN 24K where I would usually play when I visit Vegas.
I also booked that weekend for my wife and I. There's a cheer convention going on July 7-12 so expect a lot of kids on the 12th. Also, as a heads up to anyone that books that weekend, I have had absolutely bad luck getting the room I requested anytime there's a cheer competition. Last month when I went, I specifically tried to book a room that the cheer competition did not have their special booking rates for on their website, and I also tried to book 1 king since 2 beds usually are allocated more to the cheer conventions and I still did not get the room I wanted. This was me checking in on the app at 5am and the physical kiosk at 9am as well. As long as I don't end up with Coastal or Laguana I'm happy - this cheer competition seems to have Coastal allocated so I'm hoping there's no issues.
I was surprised that Harrah's built a convention center in 2015 considering the AC Convention Center and Boardwalk Hall can handle big events. But I guess this is how to fill available rooms. I think CET was having money issues when it was pitched and in Bankruptcy when it opened. BTW, the Cheer rate on Friday is $289 plus taxes and fees, but they need to update their photo https://www.starbound.net/event/atlantic-city-nj-national-finals-july-9-14-2023/
CRDA money + EDA loan made it a no brainer for Harrahs Why the CRDA would pay for the competitions space raised more then a few eyebrows
Wow, I wasn't aware that alphabet soup money was involved in the Harrah's Convention Center. It really makes no sense to fund it with public money when the existing facility is underutilized. In mid March, the CRDA handed out $500,000 to promoters for the UFC fight that was held at Boardwalk Hall. The attendance was 12,198 and the gate was $2,180,601.
AC brick and mortar is holding its own, but is largely being carried by Borgata, Hard Rock, and Ocean. Rest of the places are floundering. https://www.playnj.com/news/fixing-atlantic-city-not-difficult-heres-how-to-do-it-today/80035/
Probably not a coincidence that the remaining properties are mostly run by the two worst operators in the game in CET and Ballys Corp
It's funny, but we went to Golden Nugget about two weeks ago. The sports book is small but intimate and they have two bars for Video Poker. The Rush Lounge has music often and many of the restaurants offer happy hour. Bally's will reopen its VIP Lounge and it looks like it offers great ocean views according to the announcement. https://casinos.ballys.com/atlantic-city/vip-lounge.htm Over the winter, we went to Bally's in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Talk about a locals joint!! On a Friday at 3 pm in February, the poker room was packed.
