I'm contemplating a trip to Reno this summer, and as I've only ever stayed in "central" Reno I'd like to give the Peppermill a go, using the MyVegas two-night comp reward. I've got a few questions about this reward and the property... any insight on the below would be greatly appreciated :)

    1. Is there a "Calendar" for this reward like there is for MGM properties? I'm sure I could just buy the reward and attempt it myself, though I feel better about asking here first. This stay would be in late July... so I'm sure there's no way the calendar would be available right now in mid January. But as the trip gets closer, I just wanted to see if I'd be able to scope out available dates and make plans accordingly.

    2. Does this reward count against your "one room reward per 30 days" allowance in the MyVegas universe? i.e., say I book this reward for two weeknights in late July, could I then book an MGM hotel using a MyVegas reward in the second week of August? I can understand why they may not allow that, but with Peppermill being non-MGM, I somehow get the sense that it could be different.

    3. Not related to the MyVegas reward at all... but I see room options for the Peppermill and Tuscany towers, with the latter being slightly more expensive (which does not matter to me at all, as I cannot spend my Loyalty Points balance to save my life!). Are there any notable pros/cons to either of these towers?

    4. Just as a curiosity... any ballpark ideas in terms of what kind of video poker play is likely to yield future comp night offers from here?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. I don't remember there being a calendar. Just called, asked about the dates I was interested in, and booked the room.

    2. No. That's a MGM limitation.

    3. I don't remember the name of the tower we stayed in (most likely Tuscany), but it was near the pool and, from what I remember, it was an upgrade over the other tower. The room we had was really nice. Much better than I expected.

    4. No idea, but I've not seen an offer from them since my stay there and I would say we played a fair amount of slots and VP for 4-5 hours.

    3. The Peppermill tower has the newest remodeled rooms and are right above the casino, but they are small. The Tuscany tower was built around 15 years ago and I don’t think they have been remodeled, but are still nice. It’s a little bit of a hike to get to them. That said, we have always preffered Tuscany over the smaller Peppermill rooms.
    4. We don’t play downtown anymore (haven’t in a looooong time) so can’t compare to CET, but at our low ish level of play (slots only), we get the best comps at the Nugget, followed by GSR. Peppermill offers are not as good, but better than Atlantis.

    4. Still no idea how their point earnings work, but I’ve played similar amounts (although minimal like max 4K coin in) between Peppermill and Atlantis and I am able to get free rooms at Atlantis and nothing from Peppermill. I am in the positive gambling wise in peppermill, not sure if they take that in account

Here are my photos of a base room in the Peppermill tower (photo 1) and Tuscany tower (photos 2 and 3). IMG_4917.jpeg IMG_5034.jpeg IMG_5035.jpeg

The Tuscany room is bigger and (in my view) more comfortable, but it has this aggressive fake-Tuscan theme that does make you feel a bit like you're in a McMansion from the late 90s. I actually like the theme but some people really hate it. A matter of taste. The Tuscany rooms also have a tub while Peppermill base rooms only have a (nice) shower.

The only other real difference is location. Tuscany is a separate wing and is a few minutes' walk to the casino floor and most restaurants. It really isn't a long walk, especially if you're used to Vegas strip resorts, but the Peppermill elevators take you straight to the gaming floor.

The Peppermill Reno was originally full of mirrors with neon purple and pink lights everywhere, very much like Peppermill restaurant in Vegas . They decided to do a major remodel and somehow after made it even more tacky. I like the place but not a fan of that fake Tuscan look. I should post some pictures of some of the homes in my neighborhood that have this look all the way down to its fake grass.

Can't speak to the MyVegas part of your question, but can give you my experience with comps from VP play. I noticed in my April 2023 trip to the Peppermill that my comped room included a resort fee, unlike previous visits. Apparantly they had recently changed to a theo based system to determine comps. Over that 2 night stay I did about $50K coin in, all on the better (99%+) video poker. The comp dollars earned from that were very minimal. I still get marketing offers for 2 free nights (but with a resort fee added, and with a very few blackout dates) and $50 freeplay. I'm willing to pay the fee because it is a really nice casino with great VP.

I wonder what that coin in would get you at Atlantis where vp is also great. I do prefer the Peppermill ambiance though

My wife and I stayed at Peppermill a few times including a myvegas two night comp at the Tuscany Tower. Tuscany tower is also our preference and there is a bar with video poker on the second level near the Tuscany Tower room elevators that has live entertainment many nights a week. The casino is massive and has several bars and options for play. They also have a Peppermill Fireside Lounge on premise with bar gaming that makes you almost think you are at Peppermill Las Vegas.

We are low rollers and play very little video poker and were sent regular comp offers but they did mention we would pay resort fees.

You can easily make the short walk between Peppermill and Atlantis to give yourself another huge casino option (if you do hit up the Lucky Beaver along the way for great burgers). We played at Atlantis as well and were offered comp rooms a month later Sunday - Thursday and they do not charge resort fees on their comp rooms. We later stayed at Atlantis on a trip and loved the place and the rooms were nice but not as big as the Tuscany Tower rooms at Peppermill.

If you make the trip I am sure you will have a great time and not feel trapped to one place. There are several walkable places to go and of course an uber can get you anywhere. The free shuttles from the Reno Airport to all Reno casinos is a great added perk if not getting a rental car.

I was going to use a MyVegas Peppermill reward and actually did call and book it but my plans changed due to a big fire in the area of Lake Tahoe where the majority of the vacation was supposed to take place. There might have been a list of blackout dates in the reward listing, IIRC, but I could definitely be mistaken. I called, gave my dates, and was able to book the room without any issues. Really wish I would've gotten to stay there! I wound up just cancelling and not bothering to try to get the LPs back, I will probably also never be able to spend all the ones I have. Would love to hear about your experiences there if you do wind up going!
