Aficiandos of this board know that DTG has offered decent table minimums, but this official announcement promoting them and other value things is a good thing, IMO. I hope the renovated walkway from Fremont Street, as well as the expansion at the Fremont casino itself, helps drive some additional business to DTG:

I always liked DTG. Unfortunately, pretty much since day 1, they do not seem to have it together. They are the only property that has ever pulled an offer from me for absolutely no reason other than they didn't want to honor it. I would love to see them re-invent the property as a value gaming destination. With that location, affordable food and drink specials and good gaming conditions, they really have the potential to shine.

Ditto me. Years ago I arrived after midnight on a Saturday, but because the host didn't code the offer properly in the reservation, they insisted I pay full freight at check-in. I did under protest and I certainly let the host on duty (who was of no help, despite me holding the confirmation in my hands) and my host know my thoughts. It ultimately was resolved with a debit back to my credit card, but I was so pissed at them that I no-played them all weekend. Naturally, that affected my offers and I haven't been back.

Agree with other posters. They've been at this for 10 years and they still seem to be trying things and still haven't really figured it out. Either sh$t or get off the pot. They dropped me from their mailing list because I never took them up on any of their "offers". Give me an offer I can't refuse and I will take it. How 'bout tier matching? Maybe honor a stay offer from a competitor? If they are not serious, neither am I. Their policies seem to change with the direction the wind blows.

i really want to like them. The wife likes the rooms, i like the $1 blackjack and cheap craps...but the room offers are never very good, we have gotten decent deals but the el cortez comes thru way more easily and consistently.I deeply want them to succeed!!!!

I've never seen that casino busy. I agree with everything being said here. I feel like that instead of trying to be a casino with a hotel, they're trying to be a hotel with a casino. lol Not sure if that makes sense. They're in a world famous gambling district, but don't seem to take gambling seriously there. Almost like they want to disassociate themselves from it all. I could see them being successful if they were located a mile away in any direction, and wanted to provide a smaller Vegas experience like some other hotels have done.

A hot dog and an 8oz PBR for $2? That's about $1 too much.

I have stayed with them three times on comped offers, all three times had issues with the hotel side. I really enjoy the casino, great VP, love the $5 craps, furnace bar is great. I decided not to stay this trip but I will spend some time there. BTW, in DTG's previous incarnation "Lady Luck" the big draw was a hot dog and beer for $.99 they had an advertisement half way down the tower to pull people over from Fremont Street. Glad to see old school promo downtown again.

Did these guys read my last trip report? I basically lived on Evan Williams and PBR.

The PBR / EW deal I'm not so sure about.
If you are gambling and tipping, you should be able to get something better than Evan Williams.
If you are not gambling and you just want to come in off the street for the cheap drink special, It is a good deal.
They can't be making much money off of that.

So, what would a DTG (yes I'd like to try it) match to a Bellagio/CP "suite" (actual junior suites) offer with 300 PF / 500 RC? just curious...not looking for a new downtown home, only a second one, as the first one will always be good old, trusty El Co...

I havent been in a while, but got a mailer for 25$ Mon-Thur and 65$ weekends, with a reduced resort fee. For Summer League weekend this was a better deal than Boyd or MGM could offer. Hopefully get to fiddle around with my parents and son on some low stakes blackjack and craps, and is small enough for my mother to not get freaked out about crowds or getting lost. Maybe they will convert me full time we will see!

$3.50 for a PBR and a shot of Evan Williams bourbon is a deal after my own heart. Some of my favorite dive bars in Milwaukee have similar beer/shot of whiskey deals

I have no interest in any of this, but it certainly seems to deliver what a lot of people say they want. Hopefully it will work and those in search of this type of offering will find it!

I’d have interest if they had more tables open. When I was there in April only one craps table was open, and only half the table at that. All the BJ seats full. Operating at that capacity, they don’t seem to be interested in expanding their player base.

I wouldn’t knock Evan Williams. The standard black label is at 86 proof vs 80 proof. The distiller Heaven Hill has a good amount barrel stock and I bet the age of what goes into their standard black label is probably a couple years over the 4 year minimum that goes into Jack, Makers and Jim. Beam. I’d take over most of your stabdard bourbon offerings.

Preach brother. It looks might be downtown at the same time. If I happen to run into you at the DTG a EWB/PBR is on me. Just look for a guys with an Astros or Bills hat that looks like Micheal Landon and Kurt French’s love child.
