    My Trip Report

A quick trip report for a quick solo trip. Looking like knee replacement in 3.5 weeks so wanted to squeeze one trip in.

This will mostly be about food with some photos of the renovated Aria SkySuite for those interested.

On the gambling front, it was not a good trip (despite the first two entries below). Big picture:

    • Lots and lots of baseball bets but didn't hit a single parlay. Ended up about $5 on the strength of Red Sox comeback wins over the Yankees.
    • Played one sitting of blackjack - somehow found a $15 table on Saturday at Aria. Won $100+
    • Played lots of Planet Moolah. Lost lots of moolah but scratched that itch.
    • Did a session of video poker before each of my nice dinner - one at the Bellagio sports book bar and one at the Aria sports book bar. Had some decent luck but once I pushed for dollars, I ended up running through $100 each night. But got good Ketel Ones and tonic.
    • Couldn't find a craps table I could afford.
Had a reasonably good experience at SkySuites. Arrived at 11:00 or so on Saturday morning but could not check in until after 4:00 (got grumpy about that). While waiting, I had a very nice time at the
pool. Good shade and not too crowded. Did the same routine on Sunday.

    Pics of the room:

On to the food. Flights were on Delta on the way out (good breakfast), and JetBlue on the way back (farro salad (good), trout (pretty dry) and steak (better than it looks). Here's what they had to offer:

On Saturday night, I did my Diamond Celebration Dinner at the new Paris NOBU. I didn't take pictures, but the menu is available online. Highlight was the amazing New Style Sashimi. A home run. Rolls and sashimi were solid.

On Sunday night, I went to L'Atelier Joel Robuchon at MGM. Service was impeccable as usual. I went with La Tomate (forgot photo), La Carotte (terrifice), Steak and chocolate dessert. The corn chowder amuse bouche was lovely (except for the stale popcorn). Overall, the food was good but I would go back to what I had last time - daurade and dover sole. Here are the menus and the photos. I forgot to take a picture of La Tomate. It was probably the best dish. This place is pricey though! Alas, I spent more on cows than here.

Hopefully I'll be back in November.

    Thanks for the TR @Bibemus

Enjoyed the room pics and the food porn.

Was it a comp or paid stay?

Nice report. We were in that same type of suite one trip. The bathroom was the size of local studio apartments! Loved it.

Hope the knee work goes smoothly!

    Rooftop pool at the Cal!
    I'm not paying!

    Awesome room.
The in-flight meal looks better than some meals at restaurants.
With being diamond, I was expecting to read more gambling stories.:D
