    My Trip Report

This was a long trip (2 weeks). I won't bore you with 2 weeks of quads and food, but I did get through a lot of my 'must do' list...much of which came from other VMBers. So, you'll get a lot of second opinions. I'm posting the pics and then filling in the report.
10 days before leaving for my 2 week trip I hit this at my local casino in AC. Doubled my bankroll! This was great as I didn't have to watch every penny to make my bankroll last the 2 weeks. This was the first hand I played...4095 credits...I had slipped in $100. Wow.
[IMG] My first stay was at the Flamingo. They moved me into a suite...sweet. It is called a Neopolitan Suite. I think it is named after the ice cream...Neopolitan. If ever offered one of these suites, DON'T take it! Not only is the color palate of pale brown, white and pink horrible, notice the wall paper. Notice the tv on the wall paper. It's almost impossible to watch tv without having an epileptic seizure from those horrendous stripes around the set. The same wallpaper is used by their spa if you want to take a look for yourself.[IMG][IMG] I heard that at O'Shea's Casino, and only at O'Shea's casino, you could get a drink called a Frozen Bailey's. Had to try it. First, they're big. Second, they are absolutely delicious...if you're a Bailey's fan...which I'm not. So, if you like Bailey's by all means get your butt to O'Shea's and try one of these. Too rich for me.
I tried GRamsey's Fish and Chips near the High Roller. They were the most authentic F&Cs I've had in the USA. Exactly like what I had in London. Crunchy, greasy, good cod and a cup of vegetable oil. If you like this kind of thing, you can't do more authentic.
I tried the Dole Whip outside Bally's. Had to see what it was. Actually, we have this in the Philly area. We call it Polish Water Ice (as opposed to Italian Water Ice which has a different consistancy) and you don't see it too often. I thought I'd splurge and got the Dole Whip Float. Don't get it. They fill a glass with ice cubes and pineapple juice and put the Dole Whip on top. Trouble is the last thing you want in your Dole Whip is hunks of ice. Just get the plain Dole Whip...which is delicious. Similar in consistancy to soft ice cream but made with no milk product. I loved it.
Day 4 I hit this: (notice the 8x pay!)
[IMG] I also hit this. I'm always amazed when I hit a low-card staight flush. You just really expect to have a throw-away hand.[IMG] Someone had posted that the eggs benedict at The Egg and I restaurant was delicious. They mentioned something about the paprika making it. So, I went to The Egg and I and ordered it. BEST eggs benedict I've ever had. And, yes, the paprika makes it. This place is actually a small chain. It was so good I went back with @vegasnut for a second round of it.
Moved to the Silverton casino. They have a huge fish tank that had a mermaid show going on. The kids loved it. Next to the tank is the entrance to a huge Bass Pro Shop. Fun to walk around.
[IMG] The Skyline Casino on Boulder Hwy has great bar vp. First, they have a progressive that starts at $1,250. On top of the progressive they have a 'bingo' game. Get a quad in each number and get a $200 bonus payout. I played 2 days here and now only need 3, 10 and Qs. Each month a different number becomes wild and can fill in anywhere you need. This month it's Qs. All this while playing full pay 9/6 JoB. Wow.[IMG] Tried the new White Castle veggie burger. Horrible. Stick with Bocca Burgers in your grocery store freezer.
Should I have posted all of my quads? How about the other 4 of these I got while playing JoB? You have to draw the line somewhere.
[IMG][IMG] @tringlomane still has this to deal with. It's on his list. I threw away the sevens and pulled this: Ha Ha. [IMG] I think Westie posted about a dumpling house called 'Fu Man Dumpling House' just off of Rainbow just north of the Summerlin Pkwy. Google it. 18 reviews and it rates a 5.0. Not a 4.9, but a 5.0. That means every person reviewing it thought is was 5.0. Amazing. My first trip there I ordered the egg blossom soup with dumplings ($12). Perfect light soup with lots of veggies and 9 of these huge dumplings seasoned to perfection in a simple Taiwanese way. Loved it. The picture is of my second trip there. Hot and Sour soup again with 9 of these huge dumplings. Also, excellent but not as perfect as the egg blossom soup.[IMG] At MSS I tried the oxtail soup. Also, excellent. I was at the counter and there were 8 strangers sitting there eating...and 8 bowls of oxtail soup. I knew I ordered right.
Stopped at Lappert's Ice Cream at the Cal. Hawaiian flavors. The Kauai Pie is to die for. Don't miss it. (Coffee ice cream with fudge ribbon, coconut and macadamia nuts)
Met with @eliza and @rcbeamer for pizza at Chicago Brewing Co at the 4Qs. Really nice people and decent pizza. Not great but very good and worth a vacation meal.
On Fremont St the band 'Alter Ego' was really playing some great rock. They are an awesome attraction downtown; worth checking their schedule.
Tried the pastries at Jerry's Nugget Cafe. Reviews gave the pastries 4.5/5 stars. I had their signature strawberry cream ring (with chocolate in pastry). I would give it 3/5 stars. No more.
I had the King Crab Legs at the Redwood Steakhouse in the Cal. They were superb.
I had the Twin Lobster Tails at the Steakhouse in the Silverton. They were superb, too.
Hit the Wicked Spoon Buffet with @vegasnut. He liked it a lot. I thought is was very good but not excellent.
Had my favorite ham and cheese (gruyere) crepe at Paris. That was excellent.
Had croissants at my favorite French Bakery...La Belle Terre...up in Summerlin.
Drove around for 2 weeks in this Ford Fusion ($79/wk...$238 total). That's right, you read that pricing correctly. From Dollar at TI. Rates were double at the car rental center.
    Hotels:
Flamingo, Cal, Silverton, South Point, MSS
Had fun doing a coupon run with @vegasnut. Enjoyed happy hour with @vegasnut, @eliza and @Scott Blair.
Met with @WelshBlonde and passed on my Walmart coffee maker. Hope she enjoys. lol.
Lastly. I came home exactly even. Went with $7k, came home with $7k. ($4k from the royal just before leaving). Funny story...I had the cash in a money belt at the airport. The xray machine showed padding where there shouldn't be (or so I was told). Next thing, I was in a small room with 2 guys in my underwear (tidy whities), socks and a tee shirt...with them patting me down. They didn't stick their hand up my ass which kind of supprised me. After all, they'd gone this far.
Hope you enjoyed the recap and that some of it might add to your 'to do' list.

That wallpaper is very distracting! I felt like that new Ghostbusters 3D machine was seizure inducing.

Congratulations on starting off with a big hit before arrival.....that certainly takes the pressure off. Nice 8 times pay hit in Vegas.

Always wonderful to cross some things off the "to do" list. I am putting Frozen Baileys on my list for the next trip.

    Did you finish a winner?

Always ask for them to add a shot of Jameson to the Frozen Bailly's. Well worth it.

I posted before you added in all the details. Thanks! I knew I had seen the mermaid before.

Glad you loved GR fish and chips (they are my DH fav outside of England also) and tried a frozen Baileys!

Nice recap, and a great way to pre-start the trip. I need to really do that Frozen Bailey's that I keep reading about. They sound terrific.

Congrats on the Royal and the 8x STP 4oak...very nice!

Thanks for the great trip recap. Sucks about the strip search but going home even after a long trip is awesome!

I think I've seen that same wallpaper at Circus Circus Reno.

Nice report! Pretrip wins are wonderful! I definitely enjoyed mine last trip!

And as far as the Neopolitan suite goes, I'll be happy to switch with you! ;) But I definitely get the TV complaint though.

And you got a royal before leaving too??? Where is that pic? ;)

The first pick of the spade royal was won 10 days prior to the trip in AC. I didn't have a royal in LV during this trip...just the quad Ks.
@vegasnut also said I was too harsh judging the suite. After all, it was a suite. Yeah, but if you can't stand to open your eyes the whole time you're in it...well, I thought my room at the Cal was nicer.

Even overall on the trip with the only handpay being just the dealt kings? Not shabby then!

I play equal amounts of vp and craps. I had some really nice craps sessions...really nice. But I was ahead most of the time so I really spent 2 weeks gambling almost all the time. Usually I'm looking for alternate activities to get me out of the casino and preserve some of my puny bankroll. This trip I didn't have to worry about that.

Thanks for posting. Coming home with all your bankroll must be a good feeling.
Sounds like you had a great time apart from the event on the journey home. I wouldn't have enjoyed that.

I’m very happy you took up my recommendation for The Egg & I!
The best Eggs Benny I’ve ever had, as well.
    Can’t wait to go back...

Thank for the summary report and great meeting you at Cromwell. The pre-trip royal should be a new tradition before heading to Vegas. Thanks for talking craps with me, I actually played some this trip for the first time in years. Did not do too well but I remembered how much fun the game can be. Hope to cross paths with you again in Vegas or AC.

The escalators at the Cal are still non-operational. Slight pain in the butt, but not too bad.

My bankroll is there to cover ALL of my costs (except my car rental which shows up a month later on the credit card bill). So, the 2 week trip, with all of the gambling, rooms, great food, drinks, everything cost me $238 (rental car cost).

Yes, your recommendation hit a cord with me, so I had to try it. LOVED it! Thanks @Syringe Monkey

Lol. Yeah, that would be a nice 'tradition'. Like almost all gambling, craps is a game of slow and steady downhill followed by a big win catch-up. You have to pace your play to be able to ride out the downward slide.
