I keep seeing very high profile news stories about fights, stabbings and shootings on the strip. These are happening at places like Encore, Venetian etc. Also hearing that hotel pools are being inundated with non-guests. Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm taking my 17-year old daughter next weekend and I'm concerned for our safety. Any first-hand experience from anyone visiting lately?

I was there Thurs - sat. I would not walk around at night, only during the day. Did not feel safe at night. I saw the pool from my view (Paris) and that looked fine. Hope that helps. We were 2 older women (over 60).

I was there last month and was not stabbed, shot, or part of any fights. Nor did I see any. The pool was guests only, but I was staying somewhere they check the keys to access the pools. I had no problems going out during day or night

Of course. Wynn. You can read my TR is you want more details, but bottom line is I saw a lot mroe people on scooters thn in the past, but didn't see any violence or craziness outside the typical craziness that comes with so many druk people congregating together

I was just at the Wynn even during the fight

did no see it or even hear about it until I seen it here

if your staying in a Wynn encore resort like I did ,and go around weekdays anywhere is fine. You will see homeless and beggars and scooters and lots and lots of weed smoking everywhere even in elevators. Rooms. Walking everywhere

but never really felt unsafe Weekends different story from what I hear as I only go during the week
Will be there again in a month

as far as night time. I do not walk around anymore like years past as it’s a lot of rowdies in my opinion and I don’t feel comfortable. But my wife says it’s ok so I guess it depends on your opinions

this year I have rented a car since parking is free at all resorts so if I want to go to a casino at the other end as I used to walk. But now I drive. Even at night to help avoid any issues with this younger rowdy group that seems to be there currently

also if your staying near mid strip again it’s an opinion on your comfort level. But I did not care for that section even during the day. But lots were there depends on your comfort and or mental state of aniexty
I go every year atleast once and have never not seen homeless fighting each other but never felt scared

I'm amazed that people who are on vacation even want to fight. I'm usually having too much of a good time to be in a bad mood. If these people are angry and fighting while they're on vacation, what kind of terrible people are they when they're at home back in their normal lives??

I live in Vegas and quit going to the strip because I was seeing too many fights and didn't want to be a part of that scene. Pools should be fine from a security stance but are definitely a covid breeding ground. If you go, stay safe and try to have fun.

I was at Wynncore this past weekend, and they had deputies patrolling the casino floor constantly, and stationed outside the entrances. It felt very safe and I saw problems only once. Some people came up to our craps table and were cursing loudly, and they were asked to leave shortly by the dealers.

Please take a look at this thread in our Admin Section.
    https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/reminder-about-rule-regarding-disparaging-groups.177581/

We are asking you to be more careful with the words you are using to describe the people involved in the problems in Las Vegas right now. Much of the language is just sloppy and lazy (calling people thugs, trashy or *********), but much of it comes with racial overtones and disparaging groups is a violating of our rules. This thread has been especially problematic.

We can either correct the problem or close the threads. Your choice.

Would the worst of both worlds be scooter gang fights?
a vegas 8 news clip update,

looks like the show of force might take a bit of time for word to get out.
Not especially thrilled at the 10 guns the police found during the 62 labor day weekend arrests, but I guess at least those are off the street.

Stay safe, everyone, watch your 6, and I guess let the scooters scoot.

Those scooters go faster than you’d think. They aren’t like grocery store ones that plod along slowly. That trend must have started before the shut downs because back in February we saw about six dudes, looked to be in their 20s, plowing through Flamingo, holding beers and cackling with laughter all the way. I must admit the sight was so unexpected and weird that I also cracked up laughing. I didn’t know it was “a thing” I just thought maybe those dudes got so hammered it was easier to zoom around than to walk. Better than golf carts, I thought. Lol. Didn’t see it coming that scooters would take over. 2020 - weird times.

P.S. Deep down in my degenerate heart I was really hoping one of them would do a donut. Didn’t happen.

There is a noticeable change on the strip. Card distributors and a few offers from young ladies used to be the biggest thing to look out for. Now... scooters and groups loitering and marauding are the things to avoid. Strongly suggest avoiding the corner between Flamingo and Linq at night. The sidewalk bottle necks and people seem to hang out there and drink and smoke. I was the most uncomfortable I've ever been walking through there this past weekend.

Caesars pools are limited to hotel guests and accept a limited number of guests. I'd be more concerned about getting into the pool yourself than having non-guests there. Make sure you check out your hotel's pool entrance (waiting list) policy. We had no issues at all at CP. Very nice experience there. A couple months ago, it was tough getting into the Flamingo Pool.

Maybe they should start holding the Scooter Rental companies responsible. I assume Renters would have to sign a waiver and should include some clause on "misuse" of it or Safety?

That’s the first thing I thought, but I don’t know anything about Nevada’s law on that. In Texas you can damn near get a DWI in a wheelchair, but we are very hard on that particular offense. Seems like if that was a possibility it’d be like shooting fish in a barrel for the cops out there. I wonder if there’s a difference between driving them on the street and the sidewalk, surely there is. That big group driving down the street...that has to be something punishable. But again—I am no Nevada law expert.

I can’t help but think about George Jones “driving” to the liquor store on his lawnmower.
