I know, I'm stepping right into a :lock:.

:peace:Please, everbody, behave, don't make @Sonya work harder than she should.

There are some videos of fights in Vegas up.

Some old, some newish. Some inside, some outside.

Won't post links.. just wondering what everyone's non political thoughts are on them..

    Mine are : "Wow. Where's security/Police?"

I made a post somewhere about that tingling electricity of danger in the air.
And these videos show me, at least, I was lucky enough to avoid these incidents.
And when I go back (which I will, soon), to keep on my toes.

(most of them were group melees where you could probably easily not get involved if you hustled TF out of there)

The thing to remember is that the videos clearly show fewer people in Las Vegas. The fights that are happening now, have always happened. With fewer people around it’s easier to see and take notice. However I think all things considered, Vegas is no less safe than before, or more unsafe.
Security does come in most of these videos. Remember these properties are huge to say the least. Getting to a specific location in a timely manner happens by security, just takes a moment. Just try not to be one of the people gapping and videoing the events. Like you said, hustle the other direction. Lol!

Fights happen and it always sucks. I don't think they are anything new for Vegas.

The one thing I always hate seeing happen is when someone gets severely injured because one or more of the combatants were for a lack of better words... fucked up. Whether it's booze, drugs, or mental health issues it's always sad. Life changing shit can happen way too quickly.

I feel so times YT is too much information. Too easy to film everything by everyone. Sometimes I think people are hoping to get cash or fame by sharing it on YT or the news. There are so many places and people in Vegas it’s bound to happen and most likely quickly ended either on their own or with the help of security or law enforcement. It may have happened 5 minutes before you walked by and you wouldn’t know.

There are many videos of plane crashes, bad turbulence, cruise ships in high water, etc. if you watch them all you may be self isolating for many years.

(mods please pull if too much,:nworthy:)
this is one of the ones I was referring to, on Freemont.
Is it "street justice" for sucker punching a lady?
    Is it justified?

    All I know,
    is
    it is what it is.

There are a lot of different posts on that one fight (about a month ago),
    this is first with "commentary"

Just for fun, I searched for fights at Aria. Couldn't find any... Because security is tight there - I would be shocked if anything lasted longer than a NY minute.

Yep, that was just out on the street, Casino Security surely will be on top of whatever comes up with the quickness.

:nworthy:I'm seriously not trying to pass judgement, stir the pot, or start any kind of meaningless debate/discussion.

Basically I'm trying to (PSA) say, as always, please try to Be aware, at all times.

Sheesh, I’ve been going to Vegas since the early 70’s and I don’t recall ever seeing a fight. Some disgruntled gamblers maybe, but never any fist-a-cuffs. Just lucky, I guess.

The only fight I ever saw was outside Treasure Island years and years ago. Two drunk guys, and the bike cops pulled the plug on that. Of course that was pre-YouTube and everyone with a phone suddenly becoming an on-the-scene-photo-journalist.

These videos are buttressing the "different crowd" Vegas is clearly acquiring currently.

So fights do happen and have always happened. It's called drunk stupid for a reason. I have witnessed one in Aria (right in front of the Patisserie while we were safely ensconced in the Alibi) during was the weekend of the Mayweather/ Pacqie fight. On a Rodeo championship weekend, a couple of wrangler types was starting shit with one of my crew (and others) in the casino bar at Mirage.

Personally, I avoid Vegas when its a long holiday weekend or there is some sort of massive event, with the only exception being NCAA tourney. The large events or long weekends draw in all kinds of rookies or general shitheads. Everyone has a camera now and wants to be viral, so expect to see plenty more of these.

It will be interesting to see with School back in session and the lack of supplemental stimulus, how/if things will change in the next few weeks.

schools is back in session pretty much everywhere and in many of the places where school is still online grading consist of "they showed up in the zoom feed they get a C"......no one in any of these incidents cares about their kids or their kids schooling anyway if they did they would not have their sub-teen age kids out there in that shit.....there is NOTHING for kids in any of that NOTHING

and the stimulus money is LONG gone for all those in these videos causing trouble....LONG GONE.....this is a much larger issue that is going to require solutions that are not really discussed on this forum (and I respect that I am sorry if I have already pushed that limit)......the solutions are the will to not be the place that allows these behaviors and that makes participating on these behaviors painful (in time not money) and I do not think the will to make that happen exist now nor will it in the future until it is too late

fights are one thing where you can step aside, move along, duck into a casino and take a different route, but every seemingly very small incident turning into a crowd of shit wanting to taunt the cops and try and egg them into a bigger confrontation is a much different thing especially when there is nowhere to step aide to, no alternate route, and it is spilling into the casinos....or worse yet breaking out in them

and this is not a few bums or homeless off their meds or too sober having an "incident" or a few tourist that decided to act like asses this is masses of people with nothing on their mind other than show up, clog up, shit out, and wait for a reason to go off or jump in when someone else starts it off

They’re saying that fight at Encore was bad enough that dealers were instructed to hide chips. A security guard was sucker punched.

As for street justice for punching a lady—as a lady I’ll just say play stupid games win stupid prizes and there are worse reasons to fight. Sometimes that’s all a certain type of man understands, he’d find no empathy here. But in general that mess needs to move away from where people are trying to vacation. If they can’t get it done it’s going to be bad for Vegas.

There’s something about Fremont in particular that makes me nervous, the French Quarter sometimes has these outbursts during games after people drank too much, and there are always underlying gang territory issues at play, but that doesn’t stop visitors from being injured when it happens. And in such an enclosed space, you’re in trouble when it pops off. I’ve been watching Snapchat maps for a while and I can tell you I see gang activity on Fremont, I’m sure it’s always there, every city worth being in has gangs. What concerns me is the influx of people from California. If there are any gang territory expansions or disputes you will continue to see problems and clashes till it’s worked out. They do generally try to conduct such business when tourists are asleep, but not always. Times are hard, the luxury of naivety is gone.

I saw a chunk of human feces at the Paris LV elevator lobby area. Someone must have been so drunk that they crapped their pants. I'm sure it wasn't the first time or the last time. The janitorial and security services even had a procedure to rope off and sanitize.

With Vegas you have to take the good with the bad. I agree that this is probably the same amount of chaos you would see even during precovid times. But there's just less family and casual vacationers to drown out the noise.

I remember one time at Flamingo there was some scuffle and 5-6 security guys were pinning down some rowdy lady. It was so packed that the gaming tables near them didn't even know what was going on. And the dealers kept dealing without any reaction. Must happen all the time

The things that‘s disgusting is men (sucker)punching women, groups surrounding up a single guy or two and especially these idiots hitting people who are on the ground, preferably against the head.

It‘s not like fights did not happen in past, but one thing is for sure - the barrier of starting a fight is literally non existent anymore and causes situations in which people get seriously injured for absolutely no proper reason. The barrier of letting a beaten man go also vanished.

It doesn‘t just happen in Vegas, but in any crowded area where especially ‚younger‘ crowds gather.

Let's be careful about these kinds of generalizations and speculation. You can't prescribe a blanket motivation for any group of people. You are not a mind reader. This is how threads like this one go off the rails.

And let's also continue to be careful about sourcing. One guy on Twitter is not a reliable source for information. LasVegasLocally is generally a lot more reliable than VitalVegas, but still they are not a legitimate news source, so take their tweet with some grain of salt.

I have spent a few big weekends in Las Vegas. They are not my preference because I hate crowds and the nonsense that usually is associated with them. I've seen fights, passed out people, people swimming in the fountains, loud mouthed jerks, and lots of fluids strewn about the sidewalks.

When even the OP of a thread suggests that it is probably over the line and not a great idea, you know that I'm groaning about having to baby-sit yet another thread where it would be fine if everyone would be a rational adult and have a reasonable conversation about the issue without sensationalism, speculation and generalizations. So, guess how that usually goes around here. :bang:

The topic is a legitimate one as this thing is happening. IMO, it has always been happening but might be amplified without some of the travelers you usually see in Vegas there right now due to travel restrictions and the virus. I'm just asking that you not drive this thread off the rails or give us a reason to close it down.

Ms. Sonya, I don’t know one single thing about who is a reliable source of information in Vegas. That’s just me running my virtual mouth, playing telephone. I don’t mean to disparage that city and I’m hanging in there for a trip in October. You’re 100% correct that these things always happened before. The concerns I have now—I had before but maybe not so pronounced. I do always have some reservation saying anything at all along these lines because there’s not a thing to be done about it, and places of vice have always attracted vice lovers (like ME)! Hell I’m sure some weekends I’ve been the riffraff myself!
