Do the choices in LV ever feel a little overwhelming?

There are some VERY good thoughts/advice/recommendations on this thread. Truly, my intention was more about navigating all the possible choices and feeling good about whatever choices I make, in light of having so MANY choices. BUT - you guys also stepped up with some specific recommendations regarding the trip that are great guiding principles.

It makes total sense to me that one would have a Vegas Virgin stay on the Strip. There's just a wow factor there. And we can always party downtown for a night or two and take that in.

I'm on the fence regarding whether I stay top shelf on the first trip or not. I totally get the point of once you've set that bar, subsequent trips will suffer by comparison. But then again, knowing Mrs. Wolfpack as I do, she'll enjoy this, but will not want to go every year as I do. I think my choice there will boil down to either Bellagio or Mirage on MLife comps, or pay for Cosmo.

I think the other thing I'm going to do is plan on a longer trip - like a week. If this is more of a vacation than a party trip, then we can absolutely take time to just chill by the pool, maybe go out to Hoover Dam, etc. With having a week, there's less pressure to cram everything in and more flexibility.

I will absolutely cop to the fact that I get more than a little anal about trip planning when others are involved because I just want whoever is with me to get the benefit of my knowledge about that place. For my guys trip to Vegas last year, it was a LOT of planning, that I don't know I would do again, but dang if it didn't call come off without a hitch to rave reviews and memories we'll have forever.

I took Mrs. Wolfpack to Cabo (my other favorite place) for our honeymoon three years ago and kinda screwed up because I overplanned it and ran us ragged. We did and saw it all, but didn't chill out near enough. Lesson learned.

    Yea this is me.

It might have to do with living most of my adult life in major cities or having a job where I travel a decent amount, but the fine dining part of Vegas has never appealed to me. Like... why would I go to Jaleo on vacation when there's one a block from my office?

Vegas is my happy place because I can eat and drink like a broke college student without a worry in the world. I get why many want to take in all the restaurants and shows but that's not my cup of tea.

I guess that's why the place is so great - there's no one way to Vegas.

It sounds like one of the nicer resorts is in your future. Perhaps Bellagio or Aria with your MyVegas rewards? Great dining options at both. Split your vacation between 2 different places if moving isn't a problem. If she's not much of a gambler maybe stop for a lesson at one of the casinos - she'd probably feel more comfortable gambling if she knew the rules. And if you want her to want to come back, maybe don't make it all about the gambling. Get out and see some of the scenery - a trip to Hoover Damn, Valley of Fire or Red Rock Canyon. And if you can devote a whole day - a trip to the Grand Canyon South Rim. It took me over 25 years of visiting Vegas to finally make it to the Grand Canyon and it was more breathtaking and more awe-inspiring than I thought possible. Definitely add in relaxation time at the pool or a few spa treatments. After a few days of walking, a foot massage is just the thing for tired feet!
