I don't speak/read the local language but a friend who does says some infected Americans violated the quarantine provisions upon arrival. COVID had been contained and now apparently is on the rise.

This is why we can't have nice things.

This morning they had 28 new cases, just updated to 39 new cases for a total of 56, more than double. I had been feeling like we’d be able to make our annual January trip but I’m not confident now :(

Everything was in place for success but it just takes one or two to screw things up.

Especially for the island that relies on tourism.

And apparently some locals were bad actors, too, upon returning.

I’m going down for my annual trip on Nov. 27th staying at Marriott Auba Surf Club.
Right now I only have Alliance Insurance which
covers flight and illness to $15,000. Just wondering if I need additional insurance. I notice they are requiring a test 72 hours prior to arrival or take it there and 24 hour quarantine. What are you guys doing?

What a difference a few days makes....they have 56 active now...up 39 and expected to rise throughout the day as they are blitzing testing.

There are several requirements, one is that you purchase the mandatory COVID Insurance from Aruba $15/pp per day. If you are in a hot state, you must test within 72 hours of arrival and upload the negative result to an app that you dowload no later than 12 hours before departure. It must be a PCR Test. You will receive an approval on upload if the testing meets the requirements. If you are not in a hot state, you can test at the Aruba airport on arrival and quarantine until you receive your results, up to 24 hours but results have typically been received in 6-8 hours. They will load the results to your app and email them to you. You can find the requirements on the Aruba Tourism site.

I was going to book a Sept. trip to Aruba.
You have to submit a negative test taken prior to arrival or get one there with quarantine until results confirmed.
They said they are also requiring all tourists to purchase Covid insurance they call visitors insurance.
$15 pp /day covers the cost of Covid related medical treatment.

When I was researching in June ,prior to reopening the island , there were only a few cases ,now it's rising again.
Aruba is my favorite Caribbean island and I miss it.
Sadly however ,I am not comfortable with a 4 hour flight and all the restrictions will take away from the vacation experience .
So it's back to waiting for something to change.

Wonder if Americans are the problem or any other nationality.

A local bartender came back to the island and didn’t quarantine and tested positive so locals are also the problem. It appears two of the bars and a gym caused this spike as well as an American tourist who didn’t quarantine and tested positive. There are aholes everywhere....no one has the market cornered :(

    Bars are now closed again.

From the reporting sounds like a footloose local and at least one Americano. Not sure about other nationalities.

I venture to think how better off the whole world would be if people would just do the right thing and follow the suggested and required protocols that are in place.

    Geez.

Wow, this might put our Anniversary trip in October in doubt. I was afraid of this happening.
They won’t hesitate to close down the whole island to all visitors.
