looks like our spare bedroom. We have cases of top ramen, canned veggies, the almighty Spam, rice and beans and enough TP for at least a year. Stocked up distilled water last year. Looks like I need to get some more.

Yeah, it took us ~6 months to get our new Miele dishwasher last spring/summer. At least we knew that going in.....

Though we're months away from doing our kitchen we found the cooktop we want, it's presently available, so we bought it.

Golf gear isn't as backlogged as it was last year.

The canned goods section is always sparse in my neck of the woods........

And as I mentioned earlier in the thread and still exists today, I have the darnedest time finding Listerine (Original).

This week I found items that haven't been seen since 2019 and items that were missing last month. It seems like some of these shortages are local and regional. Since the TP shortage at the very beginning, I have found very little that I haven't been able to get.

If there's one thing I've learned in the last 2 years, it's flexibility whilst shopping. One store will be totally wiped out on some random item, but a mile up the road they're fully stocked. You really just never know.

The berries and related fruit have been pretty regularly cleaned out at my local Harris Teeter. I finally went to the grocery store on Tuesday at 10am when I had 3 minutes to breathe from work and alas, I found berries. I spoke with an employee, whom told me that when 5pm rolls around, people just buy all sorts of stuff indiscriminately. As a consequence, whenever I have a moment to breathe during the work week I try to hit the grocery store on odd times, which seems to help with some items being in stock.

Whilst I suppose I could understand this somewhat in a rural area where, ostensibly, there’s less folks whereby covid could have an even more deleterious effect on the labor force, I live less than 5 minutes from the United States capital. This problem is everywhere and it’s not getting any better any time soon.

My daughter in law texted me the other day and asked me to see if I could find Vanilla Pediasure. I checked H-E-B and Walmart - only chocolate. Which is what she found in every big store in her area in San Antonio in her area- no vanilla. I live about 60 miles away. I found three six packs at Walgreens and bought all 3. My son commutes from there and works in my town & stopped by to get them. I do see they have it on Amazon with next day delivery. I told my son and he said knew but said it was more expensive- I paid the same at Walgreens as Amazon. Sometimes you have to improvise.

Today's email from Harris Teeter is that the supply line is so disrupted right now they are unable to offer weekend specials. I get that - makes far more sense (for the business) to suspend for the weekend than have to handle rain checks at the stores where those items aren't available.....(HT is my "main" regular grocery but I have to travel to shop there since I'm still working from home - I only go ~once a month at this point, and I try to combine with other chores/errands- Costco is in the same town)

Ran by a grocery store last night, but not my normal one. Cold medicine section was extremely picked over, and the ramen selection was pretty much gone. Both make sense considering what's going on right now.

Just did a approximately 90 item pick list today and only item short was canned water chestnuts. Plenty of grapes, cantaloupe and pineapple here and we're in the middle of the mid west.

Last trip to the store I wanted some of those refrigerated cinnamon rolls that come in a tube. (you smack on the seam to open) You know what I'm talking about, right? None, no name brand, store brand, no rolls period. Store guy was standing there so I asked him and he said they can't get them, haven't been able to for quite a while.

Same here @ my local Kroger in Cincinnati. I'll stop by Kroger every other day, and for the past 3 weeks, I've been unable to get raspberries, blueberries or strawberries. I'm not sure what time they put out the berries-- but they are all gone when I get there.
