Well, I spent some time today changing plans. Cosmo reservation moved after @luck.ofthe.draw talked some sense in to me. I still have to pick up the car tomorrow morning, but I changed my hotel reservation to start Tuesday instead of tomorrow to allow for a little extra recovery and isolation time. Cosmo customer service was great at usual!

Also just changed my Wednesday flight home to Saturday next week for the time being. That cost $500 and a lot of hassle, but the 500 bucks included a first class upgrade so I got that going for me, which is nice. AA customer service was slow and horrible, as usual. 3.5 hours for a callback to tell me I cant use my flight credits toward a flight change. I could have, if I'd cancelled my trip entirely and booked a new, one-way flight, but that would have required another hour or two of hassle and waiting on another call back from customer service, so I just ponied up the cash. Just a small portion of my profit from my first 2 days in town anyway, right?!?

And I'm still feeling fine today! Oh crap, and Monday, I'll have to break the news to my employer (was supposed to be back to work this Friday) but hopefully that isnt an enormous issue.

Just tell the boss. We have 2 options I came in and give you all the Bug or I continue to chill at "home". Not saying what home you are in. Hope you are better in the morning and can get out to drive the car and enjoy it.

That sounds comfortable really! I'd try one if it came in my size! I mostly only buy slacks that have little hidden elastic areas at the seams. Those still fit comfortably when my waist does its whole "up and down by about 3 inches" thing it likes to do!

All this talk about menswear lines - I guess I’m waiting for Gabriel (“Fluffy”) Iglesias to come out with something (my size would be “Damn!” I think :haha:)

Thanks! Do you know how difficult it was for me to be in the Cosmo parking garage this morning, right next to the Boulevard elevators, to pick up that car, with a little over $500 and an identity card in my pocket, and not even go inside?!?!? I impressed even myself by behaving in that situation!

And, as requested by @Vegas348fan and @MikeOPensacola - this fabulous beast of a ride!

They left it in a nice spot for me last night with a key lockbox similar to a realtor, so contactless pickup. This host has gone above and beyond and even texted me last night that he delivered it around 10:30pm because it was more convenient for him, and I was welcome to go ahead and grab it early if I wanted.

This one has a backup camera. The prior rental did not. I've found in my research for potentially buying one of these, that a backup camera is not standard, and only available as part of an options package called the "vision package." This one I got this time has every option package, including the performance upgrade pack (because without it, it would only be a 450hp V8).

    20220102_110655.jpg

This one is the type S supercharged V8, over 500 horsey, and a little over $100k new, and the only more expensive model than this is the identical car, but type R, which is all-wheel drive. That is a great option for this car, because even with nearly new higher end tires on it, I've already found it to be a little fish-taily. In normal mode or wet mode, it is a nice comfortable and surprisingly quiet ride, at least unless you really get in to the gas. It clearly has an electronic valve exhaust, which opens up in what I call "angry mode" (which I'll show at night for proper appreciation) and that makes it a snarling angry lovable obnoxious beast! Grumbling, crackling, and popping constantly. I love it!

And last but not least, gold star if you can tell me wtf this button (on the right - I know what the slip'n'slide button does) is supposed to be before I Google it lol can't tell if that's a pair of hipster sunglasses, the dust left from the road runner hauling ass, or perhaps wheels driving fast upside-down on the ceiling, or what?!?!?

Confused on backup camera, it was my understanding that all new cars in US were required to have backup cameras as of a couple years ago?

I thought so too, but maybe it was more recent than I thought. The prior rental was a 2016 model year, and this one is a 2015. In my shopping, I'm looking at low mileage 2015-2018 because these depreciate about $50k when driven off the lot, another $20k or so over the next couple or few years, and a lot of folks don't rack up a lot of mileage. They also changed the front end to something that is, in my opinion, far less attractive in the last few years.

@MCann That’s the button for the active exhaust. If you open it, it goes into angry beast mode even when applying 2% of throttle :D

Don’t ask me how I know. I might like my cars like I do my slot machines: loud and obnoxious.

I thought it was earlier but not required until May 2018 so that might explain it.

Gold star! That makes sense with the picture. Angry mode also adjusts the suspension and shifting, and I'm 99% sure the V6 base model I got last time didn't have that button, even though it made surprisingly impressive angry noises when in angry mode.

I hang around at the Nurburgring (which you’ll know if you’re a car enthousiast) a lot and that V6 F-Type is one of the best sounding V6 engines there is. Crackling, high pitch sound in high revs, great intake sound… it’s got it all.
