Chauffeured my bride to the Twin Cities for shopping yesterday.
I walked around while she shopped.

Not a trip, but the Tall Ships come to Ilwaco, WA, just a couple of miles from home.

Is that the Lady Washington? I've been on the Lady Washington and the Hawaiian Chieftan (I think, the two that make the rounds in Illwaco and Wesport), but I honestly can't tell one from the other. :shy: I'm so embarrassing that way.

I believe it is. I was going to do the tour but the line was long and, since I'm a local, I thought I would do it the next day. Of course I didn't.

I can relate. :) It's still a 3+ hour drive to the coast for us, so I guess I was willing to wait. :haha:

December 1987, Negril, Jamaica, Mon, a rented a Lada 1300 with right hand drive. Jamaica made a deal with the USSR to allow Lada's to be imported in exchange for bauxite ore. Imagine the questionable quality of a Fiat 124, then the tooling was sold to the Soviets. I read that improvements were made to the braking system, thicker body panels, and a new engine. Optional hand crank and heavy duty fuel pump for Siberian winters were left off this rental car. Somehow, the potholed roads in Jamaica were no match for the left rear axle mount as the weld broke midway through the trip. We still drove the car, just didn't take turns too fast.

You can still see versions of this car currently operating in Russia, so I guess they improved on the Fix It Again Tony design. Do svidaniya!

Did you have the 128 Sport Coupe? My first car was ‘74 Fiat 128 two door just like this one, but Navy Blue. I don’t think I have any photos.

My brother had a 124 Spider, a very fun car......when it started and ran. One of the best looking convertibles and designed by Pininfarina. Roof was manually retracted with one hand.

A friend had a Fiat X1/9, I think he named it Mussolini’s revenge. A mid engine coupe designed by Bertone, the roof panel could be removed and stored in the trunk.

'76 sedan in brick red. X 1/9 was a hell of a concept.

Those of you living in Washington, Oregon, or California know how bad the forest fire smoke got for awhile. Around Seattle we were awash in it for a week until a storm yesterday finally cleared it out. To put a visual to it in a different area, here are two photos four days apart. The first is Monday, Labor Day. We hiked to Oregon Butte Fire Lookout in the Blue Mountains in SE Washington. Photo is looking into the valleys from about 6200 feet. This is historically the land of the Nez Pierce, Chief Joseph among them.

There's a little smoke, but visibility looking toward Oregon/Idaho is good overall.

Here's nearby, Friday (September 11) evening, from a forest service campground at 5200 feet. We'd completed a loop south into the Wallawa Mountains, up through Hell's Canyon Recreation Area, and back into the Blue Mountains. .

When we woke up Saturday morning, the smoke had risen to our level and was so bad we were worried there might be a new fire closer to us. With only one way out and no cell service we got out in a hurry. Wasn't the case, but the entire 300 mile drive home was one big smoke bomb.

    Seems familiar. :)

Gorgeous area. And striking difference in the smoke. When we did our trip to Joseph, we got hit with forest fire smoke too. Got up to that viewpoint down into Hell's Canyon and saw.... not so much. :(

I did get Dan to pose for this goofy photo.
