NBA did everything they could to get Zion in the playoffs...looks liked it worked.

This is good for the NBA since baseball is a mess right now. The only downside is that the 2020-2021 will, likely, have to be shortened because the regular season starts around Oct 31 and this season’s finals end date is Oct 12.

Cool, something to bet on other than the horses. Doesn't look like MLB will get its act together—owners taking a hard line on things.

The 2019-20 NBA season is coming back. And so are the Washington Wizards!

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the league will invite 22 teams, 13 from the Western Conference and nine from the Eastern Conference to resume their season in Orlando, Florida. Since the Wizards are ninth in the Eastern Conference, they will still resume their season. There will be eight regular season games for each of the teams. If the Wizards can finish within four game of the eighth place Orlando Magic, then they will enter a play-in tournament. But if they remain over four games behind, then the eighth seed will make the Eastern Conference playoffs without a tournament.

I feel the same way about this as I do about hockey...call it a day and start at the regular time next season.

If they do this, what is the plan to get the normal season back on schedule?

Still lots of TV money. And definitely benefits DraftKings and FanDuel, not to mention other places where sports betting has become legalized.

I thought they were planning on coming right back and opening the 20-21 season on Christmas Day.

Neither one of you mentioned the fans......

I’m glad I vote with my dollars. I’m going to give up on this sport too....

Actually @pressitagain I’m a huge Laker fan (dating back to when Magic was a rookie). So I’m happy for my son, me & Laker nation. But I didn’t want to get the thread off topic.

I get the fan loyalty. Lakers have a chance to win. As do 8 to 10 other teams. I’m not trying to take that away from anyone. Heck, I’m a Raptors fan that really enjoys watching the Bucks. I’m a sports purist....not a home team snob.

I feel like it’s a selfish move to finish a season in an empty arena. The reason that teams exist is because of the fans. The ones who cheered every win/loss.

For me, it’s all about money and not about the fans. I remember boxing in its heyday....

I guess I don't get the whole surrender proclamation. Are you upset because they cancelled games or because they are scheduling more games? What does being glad you vote with your dollars even mean? Doesn't everyone do that? How would one vote with their dollars if they are not selling any tickets and the games are free to watch or listen to? Maybe giving fans who invested 5 months of their lives and spent millions of dollars some kind of closure and entertainment is just the last straw for you, and I would like to say I understand, but I really don't get the grouchiness. A lot of businesses were knocked out from this virus and a lot of them will be coming back shortly to try to salvage their investment even if it means that it won't be business as usual. No one has to like it, but it's going to happen. I think we are going to have to get used to things being different for a while.
