I'm a simple person so keep that in mind when reading this, but isn't this the equivalent of making a big deal out of unsubscribing to someone's YouTube channel?

I'm not sure what I'm missing, but we all (mostly) got things free for using the app or got them somewhat discounted and now that you can't get them completely free you make a big deal out of not using the app anymore? I'm guessing people who will only stay the The Wynn if it's 100% free aren't gonna be a big loss to the folks at The Wynn, no?

Just quit playing and move on. I'm not sure why so many need a public burning at the stake for the folks at The Wynn. I'm still appreciative of being able to book four nights and two buffets for less than $200. While you say you are 100% COMP at MGM I'm curious if that includes resort fees? If not, why is there no thread about people quitting the MGM brand over the recent resort fee increase?

This is all very confusing for me. Don't like something, just quit using it.

Not everyone is enlightened as you are. :)

The 5 stages of grief and loss are: 1. Denial and isolation; 2. Anger; 3. Bargaining; 4. Depression; 5. Acceptance. People who are grieving do not necessarily go through the stages in the same order or experience all of them.
In our bereavement, we spend different lengths of time working through each step and express each stage with different levels of intensity.

Fair enough statement especially so when you read other social media platforms. However if you had actually read my very first post I stated that I was NOT holding a grudge, nor upset in any way shape or form. Not sure why this appears to have rubbed you the wrong way.
The entire point of this discussion and why I had asked the question was I just wondering who actually did "just quit playing and move on" as many yelled and screamed that they would do. I also clearly stated that I had gotten 2 completely free buffets and was happy enough for it. I haven't read one single post here from anyone out for blood. I 100% get that on other platforms people went all loco. I never got that at all nor did I react in that way. Personally I feel that Wynn did not think this this through and it got out of hand and they had to do something. They did something for sure. Of course any decision like the one they made is bound to have blowback.

I currently have 25K gems and am at level three. Due to the current worldwide potential pandemic I will not book a Vegas trip for May which I had planned. I will not take the risk, though minute, for my family. When this issue is over I will pay the $'s to book a couple trips, and then I will most likely be done with the app. I'm glad I played, and IMO, won. Cheers!

I haven’t quit... yet. I bought up to level 3 after the most recent change and booked 4 nights for our summer trip. I still have over 11000 gems so I plan on waiting to see what these “new rewards” will be and I'm also curious to see if they make any additional adjustments once the current cycle is up.
If they keep their same terms regarding the levels then I will drop to level 2 in 90 days then to level 1 90 days after that so it’ll be 6 months before I drop to level 0 ( if there even is a level 0 anymore) and that is when I will quit, assuming the rewards are still nil at that level and the level of earning crowns is still the way it is currently.

You would drop down to 0 if you don't earn/buy enough VIP crowns. to reach any of the levels. You don't drop down one level per cycle.

Also, correct me if I'm misunderstanding, but when you "Maintain" level 1 when the cycle resets (tomorrow, I think) you don't start earning crowns to get from level 1 to level 2, you start earning crowns to "Maintain" level 1 then continue earning to progress toward level 2.

Said another way, it doesn't matter if you are level 0 or level 1 when the cycle resets, it takes 20,000 crowns to get to level 2 either way, right?

    Correct
Your VIP points will reset to zero.

Think of it the same way CET does its Levels. On January 31st you reset to Zero but are still a Diamond Member. you need to earn those points back to maintain your level.
Wynn slots is the same with the exception of cycles being 90 days instead of yearly.

    I believe you can get to Level 3 where you can actually book rooms with 20,000 crowns. Level 0: 0-2,499; Level 1: 2,500-9,999; Level 2: 10,000-19,999; Level 3: 20,000-39,999; Level 4: 40,000-74,999; Level 5: 75,000+

Most definitely I left as far as playing. I redeemed gems for a 4 night trip in April. I still have gems for another trip though not sure when I will do that one.

I've said for months and months that this was a race to the bottom. Wynn will keep devaluing, putting in additional restrictions, requiring more purchases, etc.

Would you have actually paid $2,000 though? Or would you have stayed at a cheaper hotel?

I'm in a unique position in that I already have a four-night room booking for July, and two buffets booked for that same trip... and I'm maxed out at 25,000 gems with 56.5 billion chips. So there's literally nothing productive that I can possibly do on the app. Even if those are the only things I ever redeem from the app, I'm happy... as that's about $1,300 USD in value that I got for only about $60 USD in chip purchases.

As for continuing, I'm really not sure. Admittedly, I'm much less inclined to play this app compared to MyVegas or 4Q/Binion's now that I'll have to spend about $200ish just to redeem anything. But even having to spend $200ish for a room redemption, that's still a pretty damn good deal, being the Wynn. Break that up over four nights, and that's the equivalent of paying a resort fee.

I recognize I'm saying that from the perspective of someone who is rich in both gems and chips. So if I was to put myself in the shoes of someone who had nothing or very little in those categories, I'd be far less inclined to start playing knowing it would take a bunch of hard work and persistence, plus $200ish cash spend.

So my bottom line answer is... will I "quit"/abandon the Wynn app based on these new changes? No. Because I have a reason not to. Would I discourage others from starting out in light of these changes? Yes, I would discourage them from doing so, as what it takes to get any value out of the app will be disproportionate compared to what it used to be.

I probably never would have stayed there without this game. Paying $200 a night for a room not in my MO so I'm grateful for these game apps (Wynn and MyVegas) for providing an opportunity to get big discounts.

I don't understand why anybody would continue playing at this point unless they are very close to getting enough gems or crowns for a stay. Obviously I know some people play for fun and not trying to earn anything but the vast majority of people using this app are not them.

I just stayed at the Wynn a few days ago on a 1 night comp via the app and really enjoyed it. I currently have 10 billion chips and 17,764 gems. The next time I'm going to open the app, I plan on spending $200 to get to Level 3 to book a 4 night stay including weekends which I usually don't get comped elsewhere, use the rest on buffets and be done with it. IF it hasn't been made even harder or more expensive to book rooms by then, which it probably will be at the rate things are going. Since the crowns cannot literally be lowered any more than they already are, I would expect the gem rates for free nights to increase next.

I am glad I was able to get at least the one free night out of the app if nothing else. I would not be spending my own money on a room at Wynn when I get comps elsewhere. Hopefully I can combine whatever teaser offer is sent my way with the above free nights for a nice vacation and that will likely be the last of my time with them because my level of play is not high enough to warrant future comps there. Which is nothing against Wynn but they are trying to attract higher rollers than me and is completely understandable.

I quit playing in June. I got 2 free nights before the VIP levels. We just had our first child and I won't be going to Vegas for awhile. My choice to quit had nothing to do with the changes.

My wife didn't love our stay there anyway...we had no problems or anything. She just didn't like it lol. I didn't question her...

That's fair but my point is if you spend $200 to get $2,000 in rooms, you're not actually saving $1,800 because Wynn was never on your radar to begin with. The most you could say is you get to stay in luxury that you may not have experienced before. And I'm all for that but as long as we all can acknowledge that this game isn't what it once was and it will continue to get worse.

The thing is.. pretty soon people will be saying "oh you can spend $300 and get a great deal." "Oh you can spend $400 and get a great deal." "Oh you can get $2,000 in rooms if you only spend $500."

You're not wrong... and this is a conversation I frequently have with my brother, who makes the exact same arguments that you do (i.e. "You're spending money to save money that you wouldn't have spent otherwise so it's not a deal at all"), so I'm pretty sure I know exactly where you're coming from.

Indeed, for it to be an $1,800 savings it would have to be one's intention to spend the $2,000 on that room in the first place. As in, they had $2,000 they were going to spend, they spent $200 instead, and $1,800 is now in their pocket. Obviously that is not the case for 99% of Wynn Slots users.

I think that where the value comes from is that the $2,000 figure is based on actual money that other people are paying for these rooms, which creates a market value or "going rate". Admittedly, these figures are probably inflated, since it's in the nature of a deal-hunter to find the "full retail" price of things to compare the price they actually paid, when the "full retail" price is often discounted. So even if one's Wynn nights might have come to $2,000 on a mock booking, it's plausible that they could have just signed up for the email newsletter and waited for a sale and that figure would drop to $1,500 or so. Which supports your argument by narrowing how much of a "savings" it really is.

At the end of the day, whether it's $2,000 or $1,500 that the room would have cost at retail... it's all an amount that 99% of Wynn Slots users simply would not pay. But you're still talking about a stay that's "worth" at least $1,500 that you can still get for about $200 and a bit of play on a smartphone app. When you consider how far $200 goes for hotels in other parts of Vegas, the Wynn looks pretty appealing for that price point by comparison.

Will demand drop off if it gets bumped up to $300/$400/$500? Most definitely. Will people still do it? Most definitely. Will the same principles of it being a deal still apply? Yes, but to a lesser extent.

I had never got on board with MV, which is odd given it's the type of thing a low roller like me has made time to do for years in some form. (I'm a member of point programs that reward with Amazon gift cards and other things.) I never joined MV because I felt like I was already late to the party. The comments I read as I learned more about it were talking about how the program had been downgraded, and this was years ago.

But then I stumbled upon Comp City and the Binion's apps, not sure which came first. I started wasting my time on those to earn points toward rewards I knew I would use. I have always wasted time playing games, be it cribbage against a computer player, those silly Facebook games of years ago (Pawn Stars anyone?) When Wynn added a casino app, I quickly added it and thought I'd add it to my daily chores. I was there at the beginning, but I was discouraged by the seemingly more complex series of hoops to jump through. Would I rather have free nights at the Wynn than a free meal at Binion's? Of course. But I don't spend much time on the strip, and I wasn't in the mood for anything more involved and time consuming, and wasn't willing to give up the mindless Binion's and Comp City apps that I'd run while mindlessly watching some forgettable TV show. (I really need to stop wasting time, moral of my story.)

So long story short, I didn't think I'd have the dedication to jump through the hoops. Others have proven they are/were jumpthroughable, but I don't regret that I put my eggs in the less glamorous basket.
