    I played at The Mint in the mid 70’s. I still have a deck of cards from there.

    No T-Shirts or tank tops. No skanky looking women, either. A much classier time.
    Good luck. :beer::beer:

    The old Mint is part of Binion's, though not a complete changeover. The Mint was a big part of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and they used to sponsor a big off-road race.

    That picture brings back a lot of memories. You will note there are no shoes on the table. There are no shufflers standing next to dealers. I don't see, but recollect trays of free cigarettes and matches on each table. I can't make out the chip denomination in the picture, but wouldn't be surprised if they were dollar tokens, or even silver dollars. The dealer chip trays seem to be loaded with dollars, not clay chips.

    thanks for the post.

    Two small bits of info that I remember while I'm sitting here at work:

    1) You know when you're walking through Binions, and there's a slight rise in the floor when you're walking parallel to Fremont St? That's you walking across the threshold between Binions and the Mint.
    2) The picture posted to start the thread was actually a staged photo. That is an exec at the Mint, and they removed the glass/mirror that the watchers looked through so they could take the picture.

    I was wondering about that 2nd part. Didn't seem likely that one way glass would photograph well.

    That board reminds me of when I used to work at Kmart catching shoplifters.

    Back in those days everyone dressed as if going to church or a night club. A few years later they dressed that way to fly too. Now we are a nation of ultra casual (read sloppy) dressers.
