How is it properly pronounced? "arr-ee-uh" or "ar-rye-uh"? I've heard it pronounced both ways.

And it isn't "The Aria". I know you didn't write it that way, but it drives me crazy when people say that for some reason.

I always thought it rhymed with "Milano" as in Alyssa--which isn't the same way FDR's middle name is pronounced so I'm not sure why I that was my first instinct but I think it's right. I honestly have no idea.

Yeah most don't have "the" in them but people still put them in. I try to avoid it when I can, but if I think it flows better to put "the" I won't ever capitalize it if I'm writing it. I just recently learned and read about the missing apostrophe in Caesars. I was kind of shocked I never noticed it wasn't there before.

When i get confused I tend to look these things up online as there are a lot of resources on various sites and youtube providing pronunciations, and variations of such. Even google definitions is doing this when you define a word (like "define aria"), which I had not noticed till i just looked this up.

On Delano - I have noticed the staff pronouncing it the same as you would Franklin Delano (del-uh-noh) Roosevelt, which makes sense as the lobby bar is named Franklin. For some reason, my first instinct is not to pronounce it that way though, so I have always caught myself going back and forth.

You emphasize the last syllable, so it sounds like deh-lah-NOH, not deh-LAH-noh.

And for more useless trivia, Aria is an Italian word meaning a single voice accompanied piece of music, typically used as an Opera term.

I originally thought it was this as well, but it is in fact Dell-a-no.

What's funny is that I've stayed there at least a dozen times... I'll go to a restaurant or climb in a Uber and they ask where I'm charging my bill to or where I'm headed, I've used the names interchangeably. I've had people correct me multiple times both ways (I say Dell-a-no, other person says "oh you mean deh-lah-NOH"? Or vice versa).

True! But sort of wrong as its used for the joint. That is only one meaning of it. MGM chose the other, "A striking solo performance" as defined by Merriam Webster. If the other buildings in City Center were striking, the Aria of the area was Aria. Say that 10 times fast!

I always thought Aria was Polish for "Take all of Grid's money" Who knew?

You should be accustomed to that living in the south. I hear "the Walmart," "the McDonalds" (actually the MACdonald's), "the Kroger" and so forth all the time. Even better is when they drop the "The" from a place's name that has "The" in the name :)

Delano is pronounced like Franklin Roosevelt's middle name. Aria is NOT pronounced the way it is in the word, "diarrhea". I heard that once on a YouTube video and I notified the Justice Department.
