Ya during the day I would encourage you to check it out. At night, I might take a pass. I wouldn't take my lady in there after 9:00 pm when things start to get going. I mean it's not like we are at a bar in Syria or something but the potential for issues is simply much increased. I never did have a problem there but I am a fairly amicable guy who is a fan of dive bars to be sure. But when you go to those places you just can't act like an asshole or think you are better than those who are in there. That is gonna get you in trouble fast.

But once again, during the daytime when I was there it was like a loud frat party. It was so crazy I took a video on my phone and sent it to my friend and he was there in 20 minutes and we stayed all day.

It feels like I may be making too much of this but I just want to share what my experiences are so people have the information to do with it as they please. As @KKB put it, the neighbourhood is just fine but that building can bring extra excitement.

We were at Stage Door last year with friends. Our friends are fans of dive bars and cheap drinks. Me...not so much. It was not a place I enjoyed and we did not go back this year. It's the only bar in Vegas I have even been wanded by security on the way in. The bartender literally told me is where the pimps and prostitutes hang out. That was not a joke. It wasn't bad all in all...just not what I go to Vegas to enjoy.

Mrs. Syringe Monkey won't ever set foot in there again, lol. Nothing bad happened, it's just way too skeevey for her. It's just the right amount of skeevey for me, I love it there.

@WelshBlonde, you're too attractive to go there alone especially after hours.

I didn't want to add on or be dramatic but I was gonna mention pimps and prostitutes as well. It is very apparent.

As far as prices go, the Stage Door store is a bit more expensive but cheaper than some casino shops. Orleans & Gold Coast's Terribles liquor stores beat Stage on prices but don't have the selection that Stage has.. I'm from the Southside of Chicago and blue collar so I fit in pretty good drinking in there. Because of it's reputation people go there for the intrigue. It's sketchy but fun. I've spent may hours drinking with people more influential than some of us. I've met some major college football and baseball coaches. Some former professional athletes. One fun afternoon we drank for hours on one of the coach's tab. After 3-4 hours and about 7-8 people he closed the tab which was under a C-note with tip. Affluent people still go there only because they heard about it. The majority enjoy the place. Regardless of how low end it is, I like it. By the way, the pimps and hookers are harmless & don't mess with you..Sketchy but fun.

I used to love the Stage Door. I love a good dive bar and the Door was the very definition of one. We used to stop there every trip at least once. The last time I was there it was me and 3 of my friends, and we had been there for a little while. They had one of those internet jukeboxes with thousands of songs to choose from. I put $5 into it and selected my songs. When they finally came on, the first one played for a few seconds, then skipped to the next, then a few seconds later to the next, until all of my songs were skipped completely. I asked the bartender what happened, as I saw him holding some kind of remote control, and he said he skipped them because he didn't want to hear them. I was pretty taken aback and I asked for my $5 back. He said he couldn't do it because the money was in the jukebox and he couldn't get it out. He said he couldn't take it from the register and wasn't going to take it out of his tips. So after saying quite a few things to him I won't repeat on this board, we ended up leaving, of course without leaving a tip.

The thing is, me and my friends are pretty good tippers, especially if we're having a good time. At a minimum, we would've left $10 each, but in previous trips we had usually tipped $15+ per person, so this jerk robbed himself of a pretty damn good tip because he didn't want to hear some songs and felt it was okay to make me pay for something and not provide it. Haven't been back since.

If you were going with a group of girls i still really wouldnt recommend it let alone going by yourself lol. During the day is fine but the later it gets at night the real "characters" start to set in. I guess its better now that they have a security guard at the door for a bar that tiny but kinda makes you wonder why they need security for a bar that tiny? Never used to be one

OK, you gotta share, now I am dying to know what songs (or even one song) you picked!

Also, for others, if stage door isn't cheaper, what IS a good, cheap stop close to the strip?

Liquor store has $10 bottles of Smirnoff vodka. Can’t beat that value. We get one every trip.

I'll go out on a limb and say I'm one the very few around here who have stayed there.Still to this day the most fun I've had in Vegas was an all- nighter gambling there with 3 of my friends.
    RIP Western

There are hookers EVERYWHERE in Vegas.
I sat at the VP bar at Mandalay Bay listening to Phoenix last summer...and watched a revolving door of ladies right next to me. I think the "madam" sat there & scoped out possible guys & sent the girls in the right direction.
I was propositioned by a guy next to me & then his EMO couple friends (in their early 20s...) sitting here as well. It was BIZARRE.
