I just bought a new laptop to use in Vegas. I thought I would take a snowy morning here in Washington state and compile a list of locations in the vicinity of the Strip and downtown that offer FREE Wi-Fi to thier patrons (or anyone in range) This subject has been covered a couple times this year, but I compiled an updated list from many sources on the 'net and figured I'd share. If I missed any, feel free to post and I will add them.

Las Vegas Strip (and vicinity)
Aladdin hotel - Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf - miracle mile shopping area
Fashion Show Mall - Saks Fifth Avenue - 3200 Las Vegas Blvd.
Fashion Show Mall - Apple Store - 3200 S Las Vegas Blvd.
Las Vegas Convention Center Monorail Station - Nextel Central Station - behind their retail store - 3300 Paradise Rd
Las Vegas Hilton - Fortuna Coffee/Wine Bar - 3000 Paradise Road
Venetian - Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf - The Bridge - 3377 Las Vegas Blvd South
Venetian - Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf - Carnevale - 3377 Las Vegas Blvd South

Near Strip
The Palms - Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf - 4321 W. Flamingo Road
RIO Hotel & Casino - Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf -3700 West Flamingo Rd.

Downtown
Fitzgerald Casino - Krispy Kreme - 301 Freemont St., 89101
Main Street Station Hotel, Lobby & Players Gold room - 300 N Main St
The Plaza Hotel Casino - the hot spot is on the 3rd floor, in the seating area outside the Comedy Zone Showroom - 1 Main Street

Airport
McCarran Airport - Las Vegas (21 total access points)
McCarran Airport - Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf - Las Vegas

Also, I found this link, which looks like a comprehensive list:

The IP has wi-fi throughout their hotel, although I don't know the level of free-ness.

Great list, the mods should make this a sticky.

I looked into the IP's wireless service while making the list and it appears NOT to be free. Boo! From the website:

"Wireless Internet Service-The Imperial Palace offers all guests Wireless Internet Service. (Additional charges apply.)"

I have a little WiFi locator I will carry around with me in Vegas. I should be able to verify signals at most of these locations during my exploits in December. I just wish I had a "Soon to be Hot Craps Table" or "Loose Slot" locator....

Thumbs up Coffee Bean at the Desert Passage

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf has a nice connection in the Desert Passage mall. Looks like DSL, 1.5MB download and 400KB upload doing a speed test. Good strong signal sitting at the tables outside the store.

No time for a trip report right now. Too busy having fun!

Got a good signal from within McCarren, (takes your email address as a sign in), that's the only place I tried.

There is a little cafe inside Wynn called Sugar & Ice that has free WIFI. I used it last week. It's at the far end of the Esplanade Shops towards the strip. They have a little patio so you can sit outside weather permitting and enjoy the water fall.

I wonder if one of those "fish detectors" would help find a good game of Hold'Em?

Mccarran Airport at the D gates has a solid connection with 700K download and 600K upload using Speakeasy.net to Seattle. So far, it is on the slow side but a good strong and solid connection.

Unfortunately we were having such a good time, I didn't get to test any of the other sites. I guess I will have to come back this spring and make an effort to check the rest. Thanks Peanutmnm for the tip on the Wynn...I will add it to the list.

I think you are pretty safe with any of the wifi at the Coffee Bean locations. I held a short video conference with my family one morning. It was a bit noisy in the Desert Passage, bit it worked well. You can imagine the bandwidth it takes to send audio and video.

Gotta catch a plane!
